为了进一步促进我国民用机场的安全、健康发展，响应平安民航建设方针，提升机场安保管理水平、防范能力和运行质量，促进安防高端技术与机场安保体系建设的紧密结合，2013年，在中国民用航空局公安局和中国民用机场协会的大力支持下，首届中国机场安保论坛成功召开。

在论坛前三届成功召开的基础上，为了进一步促进空防安全的健康发展，经协商决定，自2016年起“中国机场安保论坛”正式更名为“中国机场安全（安保）大会”，并于2016年6月22日-24日在南京禄口国际机场召开了第四届。

论坛旨在搭建中国与国际机场安保领域技术交流的前沿平台，是目前国内机场安保领域迄今为止举办的唯一一个高规格、高水平、专业化程度最高的，由政府支持、协会促进推动、研究院、专家及企业参与的半官半民论坛。论坛的召开彻底改变了国内机场安全领域没有行业交流平台的尴尬，为国内安全防范技术进入民航开辟了崭新的历史性平台。
